CSK will now face Sunrisers Hyderabad in the first IPL 2018 Qualifier.
MS Dhoni, who has been at his vintage best for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) so far, has once again finished off an IPL 2018 encounter against the King XI Punjab in his evergreen style of hitting a six to Mohit Sharma over the square leg boundary.
In Pune, CSK bowlers have shown another best display against the KXIP by bowled out the touring side at 154 inside 19.4 overs in the crucial last league stage game of the IPL 2018.
In reply, Suresh Raina (61* off 48 balls) and Deepak Chahar (39 off 20 deliveries) took the charge for the CSK and later Captain Dhoni pulled the short ball by Mohit Sharma over the long leg boundary and finished up the game for the Men in Yellow in style inside 19.1 overs.
Although, Raina and Chahar were almost finished off the game for CSK and did not let too much for Dhoni to entertain the fans here, as the vintage batsman scored 16 off 7 balls laced with 1 six and a boundary, but his finishing style always thrilled his fans whether be it an international or domestic event.
As per reports in Times Now Digital, Dhoni has revealed the reason behind hitting six at the last moment of the match, saying fielders don’t leave any chance to score more runs when the team needed the most and hit the ball over the park is the best option to finish off the game in that situations.
Dhoni also revealed why he sent Harbhajan and Chahar above him to bat against the KXIP. He stated, “If you see the bowling line up it was swinging a bit. In a game like this, you want to take a lot of wickets while it is swinging. So with Bhajji and Chahar going in - it creates a bit of chaos. With proper batsmen the bowlers are consistent; somehow to lower order players they try the bouncers, off-cutters, etc.”
He signed off by saying, “All the fielders were up so I went for the big shot.”
