Bollywood actress and co-owner of Punjab Kings (PBKS) Preity Zinta has sued her fellow co-directors Ness Wadia and Mohit Burman in a Chandigarh court.
The three are directors of the Indian Premier League (IPL) team, the Punjab Kings, which is owned by KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited. Preity Zinta has contested the legitimacy of the April 21 Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM).
According to her, the meeting was conducted without adhering to the Companies Act of 2013 and other secretarial regulations. She said she had sent an email on April 10 objecting to the meeting, but it was disregarded. She claims that Mohit Burman proceeded with the meeting with Ness Wadia's help.
Zinta has requested that the court rule that the meeting was invalid, even though she and another director, Karan Paul, were there. She and Paul opposed Muneesh Khanna's selection as a director during the meeting, which is one of her primary grievances.
Zinta has also requested the court in her lawsuit to prohibit Khanna from serving as a director and to block the business from implementing any decisions made during the meeting.
Until the issue is settled, she additionally asked the court to prevent the firm from hosting any more board or general meetings without Karan Paul and herself present, as well as without Muneesh Khanna present.
Preity Zinta has continued to cheer for Punjab Kings during the current Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season despite these legal troubles. The team has had a successful season.
For the first time since 2014, the Punjab Kings, led by Shreyas Iyer, have already earned a spot in the playoffs. They are aiming for a top-two finish and are presently in third place with 17 points from 12 games.
To finish their league games, Punjab Kings will next play the Delhi Capitals at Jaipur on Saturday, May 24, and the Mumbai Indians on Monday, May 26.
