GT, RCB, PBKS and MI have qualified for the IPL 2025 playoffs.
Rohit Sharma fell for just 5 runs, while Ryan Rickelton (25) and Will Jacks (21) added 25 runs for the second wicket. But MI soon found themselves struggling at 123/5 in the 17th over. It seemed like MI would end at below-par final total, but they still had Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir at the crease.
The duo smashed the DC bowlers, adding 57* runs in 21 balls for the 6th wicket. Dhir made 24* in 8 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes.
On the other hand, Suryakumar Yadav bided his time and held one end up, but opened his shoulders in the final two overs, smacking 7 fours and 4 sixes, as he made 73* in 43 balls, powering MI to 180/5 in 20 overs on a sluggish pitch.
DC’s response ended in a squeak as they lost KL Rahul, Faf du Plessis, and Abishek Porel for 27 runs on the board. Sameer Rizvi (39), Vipraj Nigam (20), and Ashutosh Sharma (18) were the main scorers for DC, who only managed 121 runs and lost the game by 59 runs.
For MI, Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell Santer picked 3 wickets, while Suryakumar Yadav got the Player of the Match.
The Hardik Pandya-led side qualified for the IPL 2025 playoffs. DC, despite a brilliant start in the tournament, ended up in the 5th spot as of now.
The cricket fraternity was all praises for MI team's performance in must-win game and lauded them for the playoffs qualification.
