Prabhsimran Singh has 437 runs 11 matches in IPL 2025 with 4 fifties and SR of 170.03.
One of Punjab Kings (PBKS) two retentions, Prabhsimran Singh has received a huge praise from Australian legend Matthew Hayden after his consistently good exploits for the PBKS franchise in IPL 2024 and the ongoing IPL 2025.
This season, the 24-year-old has demonstrated good bat consistency, which he lacked in previous seasons. He hopes to reward the franchise's loyalty by retaining him ahead of the auction.
It's not often that a franchise keeps an uncapped player, but PBKS trusted Prabhsimran to perform at the top of the order.
On Sunday night, the 24-year-old scored 91 runs off 48 balls at an incredible strike rate of 189.58 against LSG. He scored seven maximums and six boundaries in his innings.
Hayden, who spent three years with CSK in the IPL, recalls MS Dhoni's previous quality of hammering sixes at will, and believes Prabhsimran has the same talent.
"He has got great power. Back in 2010, there was a young MS Dhoni who was launching balls in the last over of the day. Prabhsimran has got similar sort of attributes. He has wonderful bat speed, a solid base. He is not that tall, so he can really maneuver the ball into the gaps, and he is fearless. You can see by the way he took on the deliveries against LSG. He was in complete control. He has forced the bowlers to make mistakes, “Hayden said on Star Sports.
Thanks to Prabhsimran, PBKS posted 236/5 in 20 overs against LSG in Dharamshala. LSG was restricted to 199/7 with Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad scoring fifties and lost the game by 37 runs.
After the game, he was pleased with himself for playing a key role in his side gaining two critical points in the playoff race.
“It is a very good knock and 2 points matter to us a lot and happy that it came in a winning cause. I was set when I was dropped, I wanted to capitalise on the drop. Failed to read the wicket initially, it took a little time and then decided we needed to make 200. Whatever the situation demands, someone from our batting unit has been stepping up every game, and good that we are winning too,” Prabhsimran said in the post-match presentation after being named Player of the Match.
