LSG lost to PBKS by 37 runs in the end.
The 54th match of the IPL 2025 saw Punjab Kings (PBKS) hosting the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the HPCA stadium in Dharamshala on May 4, 2025. LSG captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Prabhsimran Singh anchored the innings, while Josh Inglis (30), Shreyas Iyer (45) gave him good support. Prabhsimran Singh continued to haunt the LSG bowlers as he stroked 91 in 48 balls with 6 fours and 7 sixes.
Even PBKS finished strong with Shashank Singh making 33* with 4 fours and 1 six, while Marcus Stoinis made 15* in 5 balls. PBKS made 236/5 in 20 overs. Akash Singh and Digvesh Rathi took 2 wickets each.
PBKS bowlers, particularly Arshdeep Singh, rattled the LSG top-order early on. Aiden Markram (13), Mitchell Marsh (0), and Nicholas Pooran (6) got out inside the powerplay overs. Rishabh Pant followed soon for 18 runs as LSG was reduced to 58/4 and then 73/5 when David Miller got out.
Rishabh Pant’s poor IPL 2025 continued as he couldn’t inspire his team to a successful chase or a respectable total. His dismissal was also a bizarre one.
Omarzai applied pressure to the left-hander Pant, who had gone out to bat after Markram's wicket fell, and everything happened on the fifth delivery of the eighth over.
Pant attempted to force a wide, good-length ball over mid-wicket as he charged Omarzai down the track, but in the process, he lost the grip of his bat, that flew to the square-leg area, and the ball went to deep point, in the opposite direction, where Shashank Singh approached and made an easy catch.
The camera then panned towards Sanjiv Goenka, the owner of the LSG team, who was looking deadpanned at the dismissal of his team’s captain.

Young guns Ayush Badoni (74) and Abdul Samad (45) added 81 runs for the 6th wicket as LSG managed 199/7 in 20 overs. Arshdeep took 3/16 and Azmatullah Omarzai took 2 wickets as PBKS won the game by 37 runs.
PBKS have now moved to second place in the IPL 2025 points table with 15 points from 7 wins in 11 games. LSG is at the 7th spot with 10 points from 11 games and 5 wins.
