Gill animatedly argued with the on-field umpires during GT's match against SRH on Friday.
The incident unfolded in the 14th over of SRH’s chase when Abhishek Sharma was stuck on his boot, and Gill, with his teammates, appealed for an LBW.
The umpire didn't show much interest, which prompted GT to opt for DRS. The review didn't demonstrate where the ball had pitched; it just showed the impact and wickets.
Gill didn't seem too pleased and animatedly argued with the on-field umpires. Abhishek had to step in to calm the Titans captain down, and eventually, the heat subsided, and the chase resumed.
"There was a little bit of a discussion with me and the umpire. Sometimes there are so many emotions involved, and as you give your 110 per cent, there are bound to be some emotions," Gill said in the post-match presentation.
Asked to bat first, GT racked up a mammoth 224/6 on the board, courtesy of Shubman Gill’s 38-ball 76, Jos Buttler’s 37-ball 64 and Sai Sudharsan’s 23-ball 48.
Reflecting on their dominant batting display, Gill clarified that they didn't have any specific plan.
"Definitely didn't plan that (on playing just 22 dot balls in 20 overs). The only conversation was let's try to play the game we have been playing so far. The black soil pitch is not easy to hit sixes, but the way Sai, Jos, and I play, I think we have an understanding of how to keep the scoreboard ticking," Gill stated.
"I don't think we have ever had that conversation where one of us has to be there. We are all eager and hungry for runs and do what is best for the team," he remarked.
In reply, Abhishek Sharma (74 off 41) provided SRH a solid start but GT bowlers restricted the visitors at 186/6. Prasidh Krishna was adjudged Player-of-the-Match for his wonderful bowling figures of 2/19 in four overs. Mohammed Siraj also produced a stunning spell, claiming two wickets by conceding 33 runs in four overs.
