Virat Kohli struck his sixth half-century in IPL 2025 to lead RCB to a win against DC.
Virat Kohli claimed that he planned his celebrations while leading Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a 163-run chase against Delhi Capitals in their recent IPL 2025 match in Delhi.
Kohli returned to his hometown of Delhi and struck a decent half-century to keep the RCB chase on track after losing three early wickets. Kohli (51) and Krunal Pandya (73*) formed a 119-run fourth-wicket stand to complete their revenge against Delhi for their loss at M Chinnaswamy Stadium earlier this season, when local boy KL Rahul led DC to a resounding victory.
Rahul celebrated his team's victory against Chinnaswamy with an iconic 'This is my ground' celebration, demonstrating his dominance in domestic cricket at his home field.
Kohli had a chance at the Arun Jaitley Stadium to do the same, but he was removed for 51, leaving his team 18 runs short of the objective. The visitors cruised to victory with 8 balls remaining, but Kohli was unable to respond to Rahul's jubilation with his own.
However, after the match, Kohli caught up with Rahul and copied the same 'Kantara' celebration, which the two chuckled over. The Delhi Capitals shared a video on X that showed the two interacting after the match.
When Kohli did the 'this is my ground' celebration, Rahul said, "yahi bol rha that mai, achha hua out ho gaya. (That's what I was telling him, good you got out)" Kohli laughed out loud at Rahul's reply as he revealed his original plan for the celebration.
“Pata hai, maine kya socha tha, match khatam krrunga, yeh krrunga (Kantara celebration), fir aake tere ko hug krrunga. Inko nahi pata hai naa off the field kaisa hai. (You know what I thought, I'll finish the match, do this (Kantara celebration) - and then will come to you to hug you. These guys don't know how we are off the field.),” Kohli told Rahul.

Kohli's half-century was his sixth of the season and fourth while chasing, taking his run tally this season to 443. RCB moved to top place in IPL 2025 points table with their 7th win from 10 matches and now have 14 points.
