MS Dhoni won his first Player of the Match award in seven years in IPL.
Since MS Dhoni has taken up captaincy of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2025, the franchise broke their 5-match losing streak in the tournament. CSK defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Lucknow on Monday by 5 wickets.
Dhoni was handed CSK captaincy after Ruturaj Gaikwad, the regular captain, was ruled out of the tournament due to a fractured elbow. CSK had started IPL 2025 well by defeating MI in their tournament opener. But then things went downhill, and they lost 5 games on a trot.
However, the fans of the CSK franchise noted some worrying visuals that have emerged of MS Dhoni limping after his heroics against the Lucknow Super Giants.
The CSK skipper did not appear to be at his physical peak on Monday, April 14, despite delivering an all-round effort that helped the team snap a five-match losing run. Dhoni exhibited signs of discomfort even when keeping wickets.
He was later observed limping as he ascended the stairs to the dressing room for post-game chores. In fact, Dhoni appeared to struggle to walk freely as he made his approach to collect the Player of the Match trophy.
In a more alarming footage, which has now gone viral on social media, Dhoni was seen limping again as he entered the team hotel in Lucknow on Monday. He did not, however, wear a knee brace or a cap when he stepped off the team bus.

While it is no secret that Dhoni has been dealing with a bothersome knee for several years, Monday was the first time this season that he was spotted in evident distress. However, neither MS Dhoni nor the Chennai Super Kings management have indicated concern over a possible injury.
