Abhishek Sharma showed a note reading "This one for Orange Army" after reaching his ton.
Previously, Travis Head stated in a post-match interview with the host broadcasters that Abhishek had been carrying the message in his pocket since the first match.
"The note has been in the pocket of Abhishek Sharma for 6 games; glad it came out tonight,” Travis Head had said during a chat with official broadcasters.
As Abhishek completed his hundred for the third time in T20s, he removed the note from his pocket and displayed it to the Hyderabad crowd. Sharma scored 141 in 55 balls with 14 fours and 10 sixes, his first IPL ton and the highest IPL individual score by an Indian.
“I wrote it today, itself, because I usually wake up and write something. I got a random thought that if I do something today, that would be for Orange Army. Luckily, today, I felt it was my day. To be honest, I was sick for four days and had a temperature.
I am grateful to have people like Yuvraj Singh and Suryakumar Yadav around me. They called me continuously because they knew I could do something like this," Abhishek said while speaking at the post-match press conference.
Hyderabad's victory over Punjab on Saturday helped them move from the last position in the Indian Premier League points table to eighth with four points. Abhishek, who has been battling with form this season, grabbed the show with an impressive performance of clean hitting.
If Abhishek was the main aggressor, reaching his half-century in just 19 deliveries, Head gave solid assistance, hammering three sixes and nine boundaries in a smooth 66 from 37 deliveries.
