Varun hails from Tamil Nadu and has played his cricket at Chepauk ground.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) decimated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their own backyard in the ongoing IPL 2025 tournament. KKR destroyed CSK for 103 runs and then chased down the target, losing only 2 wickets in the process.
KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and decided to bowl first. The choice proved to be a masterstroke, as KKR bowlers took full advantage of the two-paced pitch, dismissing CSK for 103 runs. CSK's best scorers were Shivam Dube (31*) and Vijay Shankar (29), with KKR's Sunil Narine taking three wickets and Harshit Rana and Varun taking two each.
In response, the KKR openers added 46 runs in four overs, with Quinton de Kock scoring 23 and Sunil Narine hitting 44 in 18 balls with two fours and five sixes. Rinku Singh scored 15* runs, while Ajinkya Rahane scored 20* as they finished the game for KKR, who scored 107/2 in 10.1 overs.
After the victory, KKR spinner Varun Chakaravarthy was seen copying DC’s KL Rahul’s recent viral celebration. KL Rahul scored a brilliant 93* to help DC win the game against RCB in Bengaluru a couple of nights ago.
After winning the game, KL Rahul circled the ground and stomped his bat, stating that it was his home ground and he knew how to win matches here.
Varun Chakaravarthy hails from Tamil Nadu and plays for the side in Indian domestic cricket. Therefore, he knew how to bowl on the MA Chidambaram Stadium pitch against CSK and helped his team win the match.
He signalled that this was his ground after KKR won the match. In another video, Varun is seen standing in front of the Chepauk stands and points his thumbs to towards them and again gestured that this was his ground.
