Parag made 26 in 14 balls with 1 four and 3 sixes in his knock.
The 23rd match of the IPL 2025 saw the Gujarat Titans (GT) taking on the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Ahmedabad on April 9, 2025. Sanju Samson, the RR captain, won the toss and chose to bowl first.
GT captain Shubman Gill was dismissed by Jofra Archer for 2 runs, but then, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler (36) steadied the innings with an 80-run partnership. The GT innings needed an impetus and entry of Shahrukh Khan proved to be blessing for them.
He smoked 36 in 20 balls, while Sudharsan made 82 in 53 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes. Rahul Tewatia (24*) helped GT put 217/6 in 20 overs.
In reply, Yashasvi Jaiswal (6) and Nitish Rana (1) got out for RR. Riyan Parag and captain Sanju Samson looked good and smacked some boundaries. They added 48 runs for the third wicket when Parag dubiously lost his wicket.
Kulwant Khejroliya bowled a wide yorker, and Parag tried to slice it to the third man. The ball met the bat right near the ground before going to keeper Jos Buttler, who took the catch. Khejroliya appealed, and the on-field umpire gave him out.
Parag reviewed the decision and thought the ultra-edge showed spike when the ball was both near the bat and the ground, the TV umpire adjudged him out. Parag had a conversation with the umpire about the decision, before he returned to the dug out in dejected manner.
