MS Dhoni is one of the four players to have played in all IPL seasons from 2008 till now.
MS Dhoni has opened up about his IPL future and discussed the rumors of his retirement floating on social media. He discussed all of this on his podcast debut on the Dhoni app, in conversation with Raj Shamani.
MS Dhoni has stated that he takes one year at a time to decide how long he will play professional cricket, indicating that he has no plans to retire anytime soon, despite fans and pundits claiming that his time is up, with his returns diminishing with each passing game.
Rumors circulated that Dhoni's IPL career was coming to an end after his parents were spotted in the stands of the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday, April 5.
Dhoni has stated that he will give his body eight months to see if he can still play at the age of 44. He would turn 44 in July, just over a month after the IPL 2025 concludes.
“No, not right now. I am still playing the IPL. I have kept it very simple: I take it one year at a time. I am 43; by the time IPL 2025 finishes, I will be 44, so after that, I have 10 months to decide if I will play or not. But it is not me deciding, it is my body that decides. So, one year at a time, we will see after that," MS Dhoni said in the podcast.
Following Chennai's match against Delhi Capitals, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming was asked the same question by the media. Fleming has previously stated that he no longer discussed retirement with Dhoni.
“I have no idea. I’m just enjoying working with him still. He is still going strong. I don’t even ask [about his future] these days,” Stephen Fleming said after the match.
