The IPL 2025 tournament begins on March 22 with defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders facing Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The issue will be publicly debated at the Apex Council meeting on the same day as the IPL 2025 opening in Kolkata. It will take place before the KKR-RCB match. This comes just a few weeks after the government directed the BCCI to restrict all tobacco and alcohol marketing, including surrogate advertisements, during the IPL.
"Discussion regarding sponsorship from tobacco and crypto brands," read item No. 9 on the agenda.
The BCCI will also decide on the locations and appoint a committee to organize the ICC Women’s World Cup tournament. The BCCI last hosted the Women's ODI World Cup in 2013. The specific schedule for the October event has yet to be determined.
According to the agenda, there would be a "discussion on the formation of LOC for Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 and discussion regarding venues for Women's Cricket World Cup 2025."
India has reached the final of the 50-over event twice but failed to advance. Harmanpreet Kaur's squad will be looking to end their long ICC trophy drought at home.
The Apex Council will also decide on the structure for the 2025-26 domestic season. As part of the home season, India is slated to host the West Indies and South Africa, and the members are likely to decide on the Test series venues.
With a new set of office-bearers in place, approval for a change in signatories to the bank accounts operated by BCCI will also be taken.
