PBKS has bought Sam Curran for INR 18.5 crores in IPL 2023 and retained him for IPL 2024.
Curran played for CSK under MS Dhoni in IPL 2020 and 2021, winning the title in 2021. He then moved to Punjab Kings, bought for INR 18.5 Cr in the IPL 2023 auction, and then retained for IPL 2024 at the same value.
Although the team had failed to live up to expectations, he demonstrated all-round ability with 270 runs and 16 wickets in 13 matches. He even captained PBKS in these two seasons after Shikhar Dhawan got injured.
However, PBKS released him ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction and was gobbled up by CSK again, for just INR 2.4 Crores. Overall, Curran has 883 runs in 59 IPL matches and 58 wickets to his name. He also has a trick to his name in IPL.
Sam Curran’s addition to CSK’s lineup for IPL 2025 isn’t just a boost to their lineup but also the return of a familiar face who has played a role in their success previously.
Even the England all-rounder was happy to be back home and shared his joy on social media.
“It feels like I’m returning home. Super excited to be back where I’m most happy CSK. Let’s go,” Curran posted while quoting CSK’s post on him.
However, this post didn’t sit well with Punjab Kings (PBKS) fans, as they have mixed feelings about Curran leaving the franchise.
Overall, Curran got huge money from PBKS in two seasons with them in 2023 and 2024, where he scored 276 and 270 runs respectively. He also picked 10 and 16 wickets, while leading the side.
