The IPL 2025 mega-auction is currently taking place in Jeddah with 577 players going under the hammer for a chance to be part of the world’s richest and most popular T20 league.
Out of the shortlisted players, 367 are Indians and 210 are overseas. A total of 204 slots are to be filled in the two-day auction, with 70 spots reserved for foreign players.
A number of players triggered a fierce bidding war in the first two sets, featuring the marquee names. The likes of Shreyas Iyer (INR 26.75 Crore to Punjab Kings) and Rishabh Pant (INR 27 Crore to Lucknow Super Giants) stole the show with their whopping price tags.
In Set 3, capped batters were up for grabs and the likes of David Warner, Devon Conway, Harry Brook and Jake Fraser-McGurk grabbed the headlines.
Warner, the IPL-winning captain, entered into the auction ring with a base price of INR 2 Crore but the southpaw failed to attract any of the 10 franchises and went sold.
Conway and Brook secured a deal with the Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals for INR 6.25 Crore. Both of the team had the base price of INR 2 Crore.
The 22-year-old Jake Fraser-McGurk was the most expensive player in this set, securing a deal with the Delhi Capitals for INR 9 Crore. DC used the RTM card to retain his services.
