Ambati Rayudu, the former India, MI, and CSK batter, has taken a veiled dig at the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Virat Kohli after the franchise was knocked out of the IPL 2024. RCB lost to RR in the Eliminator on May 22 in Ahmedabad.

RCB icon Virat Kohli heads the list of the season's top run-getters with 741 runs in 15 innings, but after 17 seasons with the franchise, he is yet to lay his hands on an IPL trophy.

Rayudu accused RCB of putting the individual interests of one player over the entire team, in a veiled dig at Kohli. He also said that RCB let go of many fantastic players and the team can start a new chapter at the mega auction.

"My heart truly goes out to all the RCB supporters who have passionately supported the team over the years. If only the management and the leaders had the team's interests ahead of individual milestones...rcb would have won multiple titles.

Just remember how many fantastic players have been let go off. Force your management to bring players who will put the team's interests first. A great new chapter can start from the mega auction," Rayudu further wrote on X.

Ambati Rayudu is a six-time IPL winner, as he won the IPL in 2013, 2015, and 2017 with Mumbai Indians and then won the tournament with CSK in 2018, 2021, and 2023. Rayudu called his retirement after winning the tournament last year.

Earlier, Rayudu indirectly poked RCB by sharing a video on Instagram, possibly in response to RCB's exuberant celebrations after eliminating CSK to secure a spot in the IPL 2024 playoffs.

The former CSK batter also lashed out at RCB after their defeat against Rajasthan in the Eliminator, saying aggressive celebrations don't win you trophies.

"If you talk about RCB today, it shows that only passion and aggressive celebrations don't win you trophies. You need to plan. You didn't get the IPL trophy just by reaching the playoffs. You have to play with the same hunger. Don't think you will win the IPL trophy just by beating CSK. You will have to come next year once again," Rayudu had said on Star Sports.
