Rajasthan Royals (RR) turned out to be the victors in the IPL 2024 Eliminator match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on May 22. The match was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson won the toss and chose to bowl first. There was not a huge score by any RCB batter, but small contributions that took the team to a competitive total. Virat Kohli (33), Rajat Patidar (34), and Mahipal Lomror (32) were the main contributors as RCB posted 172/8 in 20 overs. Avesh Khan picked 3/44, while R Ashwin took two wickets.

In reply, RR lost Tom Cohler-Cadmore for 20 runs, while Sanju Samson made 17 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal was looking in good touch before he was out for 45 runs, off Cameron Green’s bowling.

However, Riyan Parag held one end up, scoring 36 with 2 fours and 2 sixes, and didn’t let the asking rate get out of hand. Mohammed Siraj reignited some hopes of an RCB comeback with a double wicket over including that of Parag.

However, Shimron Hetmyer (26), who also got out to Siraj in that over, and Rovman Powell (16*) ensured that RR won the match comfortably. RR reached the target of 173 with 4 wickets in hand and one over to spare.

With this win, RR entered the Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2024, where they’ll meet SRH on Friday in Chennai. The winner of that encounter will clash with KKR in the IPL 2024 final on Sunday, also in Chennai.

The cricket fraternity was all praises for the RR team, who broke their 4-match losing streak in the tournament, and for moving one step closer to the IPL final.
