CSK couldn't chase the 17 runs required in last over to qualify for playoffs.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru extended their Cinderella run in IPL 2024 on Saturday, defeating defending champions Chennai Super Kings by 27 runs.
It was RCB's sixth straight win, as they posted a respectable 218 for 5 after being summoned to bat and then held CSK to 191 for 7 to advance to the playoffs for the eighth time in 15 seasons. Many were taken aback by the RCB victory, and former CSKian Ambati Rayudu, in particular, was stunned to learn that CSK had been eliminated.
After his viral reaction to CSK's loss on Saturday night, Rayudu on Sunday got involved in a hilarious banter with former RCB pacer Varun Aaron on a Star Sports show.
Watching RCB fans in Bengaluru go crazy with celebrations, Rayudu sarcastically said: "We saw what was the reaction in the streets of Bengaluru, in fact, CSK should give one of their trophies to RCB."
Reacting to the same, Varun Aaron funnily said, "He's just not able to digest the fact that RCB knocked out CSK."
Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, and Sunrisers Hyderabad have already qualified for the play-offs.
