Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 59th match of the IPL 2024. This encounter is being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 10, 2024.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain won the toss and chose to bowl first. Both openers Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill attacked the CSK bowlers from the get-go

Ruturaj Gaikwad tried every trick in the book, but a batting gem of a pitch and strong intent from both batters resulted in CSK bowlers leaking runs everywhere.

Shubman Gill made 104 runs in 55 balls with 9 fours and 6 sixes, and he added 210 runs for the first wicket with Sai Sudharsan. Sudharsan, who opened in place of Wriddhiman Saha, scored his maiden IPL hundred, getting out for 103 in 51 balls with 5 fours and 7 sixes to his name.

Shubman Gill’s century was the 100th ton in IPL history, and this was the third time in IPL when two individual centuries were hit by one team. The 210-run partnership between Shubman and Sudharsan is now the joint third-highest ever in IPL for any wicket.

GT finished with 231/3 in 20 overs, setting a stiff target for CSK to chase.

In response, CSK lost their top three for single-digit scores including captain Gaikwad for a duck. Daryl Mitchell (63) and Moeen Ali (56) added 109 runs for the 4th wicket. But GT continued to pick wickets as Mitchell and Moeen fell in quick succession.

Shivam Dube (21) and MS Dhoni (26* in 11 balls) managed to lessen the margin of defeat as CSK finished on 196/8 and GT won the match by 35 runs. Mohit Sharma took 3/31, while, Rashid Khan took 2 wickets for GT.

The cricket fraternity lauded GT for their win and also praised Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan for their terrific match-winning centuries.
