Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has raised questions over the Decision Review System (DRS), citing that he is not fully convinced in its accuracy to judge the bounce of the ball.

"I am somehow not convinced with this DRS system; I'm not fully inclined to believe that it is entirely accurate because it cannot judge the bounce of the ball and how much it is bouncing," Harbhajan said while speaking on the 180 Not Out podcast.

Harbhajan explained his point, highlighting the difference between the DRS rulings and the basic principle of cricket.

"Another thing that bothers me is that when we start playing cricket in the neighbourhood, we are shown the wicket and told that if the ball hits the wicket, you're out. Whether it hits this much or that much, you're out. If the ball touches the stump, grazes it, or hits it fully, that's out," he remarked.

Moreover, Harbhajan pointed out the inconsistency in applying DRS decisions by umpires, citing instances where umpires uphold decisions even though the technology suggests otherwise.

"If the umpire has given a not out, and DRS clearly shows the ball hitting the stumps. It should be given out. But we sometimes use the umpire’s decision and retain the not out verdict. Aap technology ko la bhi rahe ho aur uski baat bhi nahi maan rahe (You are bringing in technology but not accepting its decision)," he stated, calling for a more consistent approach.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli's contentious dismissal during the KKR versus RCB clast at the Eden Gardens on Sunday (April 21) reignited the debate surrounding the efficacy of technology in cricket.

When Kohli was batting on 18 off 6 balls, he was caught and bowled by Harshit Rana, who got the prized scalp with a full-toss that initially appeared to have gone above the waist-line. The RCB star was calling for a no-ball, but it was not given and the third umpire also did not give it a no-ball and adjudged Virat out.

Replays suggested that the ball would have been below waist-high at the popping crease. However, when Kohli, who was well ahead of the popping crease, hit the ball, it appeared above his waist.

After being declared out, Virat Kohli had a heated exchange with the on-field umpires before making his way back to the pavilion.
