Du Plessis won the toss and chose to bowl first against KKR.
Notably, Du Plessis was in the news a few days ago against SRH in Bengaluru. The RCB skipper at the toss time was seen explaining to Pat Cummins how the match referee in their game against Mumbai Indians tampered with the toss.
Following the toss in the MI vs RCB game, match referee Javagal Srinath was seen bending down to retrieve the coin tossed by MI captain Hardik Pandya and flipping it, although accidentally, before judging who won the toss. Srinath's sleight of hand, however unwittingly, was detected by observant social media users.
Since this instance, the governing body then made sure that they made the coin toss public as since then cameras have been focusing on the coin when it falls.
This happened during the toss between KKR and RCB in Kolkata as well. As the coin fell after spinning the cameras zoomed in. However, what caught the attention of many was Faf du Plessis' reaction.
Faf du Plessis was seen giving a wicked smile, seemingly aware that he had made a change and his gesture had brought an improvement in IPL.
