Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) emerged victorious by 25 runs in a high-scoring encounter against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday (April 15).

Invited to bat first, SRH posted a gigantic total of 287/3 on the board - the highest-ever total in IPL history. Opener Travis Head stole the show with his brutal century (102 off 41) while Heinrich Klaasen (67 off 31), Abdul Samad (37* off 10), Abhishek Sharma (34 off 22) and Aiden Markram (32 off 17) also made vital contributions with the bat.

Chasing the target, RCB put up a brave fight and finished on 262/7, thanks to Dinesh Karthik’s whirlwind 35-ball 83 and fireworks from Faf du Plessis (62 off 28) and Virat Kohli (42 off 20) at the top. However, it wasn’t enough to take them over the finishing line.

After the game, SRH skipper Pat Cummins joked that he sometimes wishes he was a batter, considering the challenges he faced as a bowler in T20 matches such as the Bengaluru run-fest.

"Feel like I wish I was a batter. Against Mumbai a few weeks ago I thought it won't happen again, but it has happened again. Give me a few more years please (on if bowlers will go extinct)! It feels like you bowl an over for seven or eight feels great," Cummins said in the post-match interaction.

Cummins is enjoying the fearless approach with which SRH batters have been playing in the ongoing IPL season. Despite the unpredictability of pitch conditions, the SRH captain highlighted the team's adaptability and positive atmosphere within the squad.

"I've given up trying to read the pitches. Really happy with our cricket, four wins now, the freedom with which the batters are going out to play is great and few wily bowlers doing the job as well," he added.

This was SRH’s fourth win in six games this season. They are currently holding the fourth spot on the points table featuring 10 teams.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will next face Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday (April 20).
