It was the fourth over when experienced pacer Ishant Sharma sent a wide ball down the leg side from around the wicket. LSG batsman Devdutt Padikkal attempted to clip it towards square leg but was unsuccessful.
The umpire declared it a wide delivery, although Pant appeared to be calling for a DRS from behind the stumps. As the DC skipper's move was captured on camera, the match official went upstairs for the referral, and the visitors lost one of their two reviews.
The drama began before the next ball when Pant and the umpire had a lengthy conversation, with the wicketkeeper claiming that he may not have reviewed it. However, TV replays revealed that Pant made the sign for DRS, although not looking at the umpire.
The conversation lasted nearly five minutes before the game resumed at Ekana Stadium.
