Mumbai Indians (MI) registered a crushing 7-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Thursday (April 11) at Wankhede Stadium. It was their second successive win of the season after losing their first three games, on the other hand RCB suffered their fifth loss from six games to remain ninth on the table.

MI captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to bowl first keeping the dew factor in mind. Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Virat Kohli (3) for the fifth time in IPL, and went on to add four more victims to pick his second five-wicket haul, to finish with 5/21. He also became the purple cap holder.

However rest of the MI attack took a pasting from Faf du Plessis (61), Rajat Patidar (50), and Dinesh Karthik (53*) as RCB posted what seemed like a competitive total of 196/8 on the board.

Ishan Kishan (69) blazed away in the powerplay and got good support from Rohit Sharma (38) as MI posted 100 runs in just the 9th over. Thereafter, Suryakumar Yadav had some fun as he smashed a 17-ball half-century and along with Hardik Pandya (21*) ensured an easy 7-wicket win in just 15.3 overs.

Hardik, who had a great night otherwise, was again booed by the Wankhede crowd when he came on to bowl and then again when he came out to bat. Many of the MI fans are yet to accept their new captain, who replaced Rohit Sharma, their 5-time IPL winning captain, before the 2024 season.

RCB and India superstar Virat Kohli had enough of the crowd's booing as he was seen quite annoyed by the reaction of the fans. Kohli made some gestures towards the crowd seemingly reminding them that Hardik is also an Indian player.

Virat's fine gesture made a difference as the fans stopped booing Hardik, and infact cheered for him.
