IPL 2024: Cricket fraternity reacts as GT snaps RR’s win streak; registers a thrilling 3-wicket victory

Yuzvendra Chahal received the Purple Cap for most wickets in IPL 2024 till now.

Gujarat Titans (GT) ended Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) winning campaign in IPL 2024 as they handed them their first loss of the season in their own backyard. This match was played in Jaipur on April 10, 2024.

Shubman Gill, GT captain won the toss and chose to bowl first. RR posted a competitive 196/3 despite a slow start. Riyan Parag made 76 in 48 balls with 3 fours and 5 sixes, while Sanju Samson made 68* with 7 fours and 2 sixes and their 130-run partnership for the 3^rd wicket starred in RR’s innings.

In reply, Shubman Gill was the anchor of GT innings, scoring 72 from 44 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes. Sai Sudharsan made 35 and added 64 runs for the first wicket with Gill.

Towards the end, Rahul Tewatia (22), Shahrukh Khan (14), and Rashid Khan (24*) contributed to the winning cause, as they kept the GT chase at par with the required rate. The RR bowlers Kuldeep Sen (3/41) and Avesh Khan crumbled under pressure in the last three overs, where 45-plus runs were scored.

Rashid Khan was named the Player of the Match for his 1/18 and 24*. 

With this win, GT is now at the 6^th spot with 3 wins and 3 losses from 6 matches, while RR remains at the top with 4 wins and 1 loss from 5 games.
