Ravindra Jadeja shined with the bat and in the field as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 22nd match of the IPL 2024. CSK won the match by 7 wickets to register their third win in five matches, while KKR were handed their first loss after three consecutive wins.

CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad had won the toss and had opted to field first. Despite losing Phil Salt on the first ball of the match, Sunil Narine (27) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (24) got KKR off to a blazing start, scoring 56 runs in 6 overs. However, once they were out, CSK tightened the screws on the KKR batting.

Shreyas Iyer (34) did his best, but CSK's bowling held KKR to 137/9 in 20 overs. Tushar Deshpande and Ravindra Jadeja each claimed three wickets, with Mustafizur Rahman picking up two.

In response, Ruturaj Gaikwad made 67* with 9 fours and, with contributions by Daryl Mitchell (25) and Shivam Dube (28), helped CSK win the game by 7 wickets in 17.4 overs.

IPL 2024: WATCH- MS Dhoni masterminded Ravindra Jadeja’s prank to give ‘Paisa Vasool moment’ to CSK fans

Ravindra Jadeja was named the 'Player of the Match' and at the post-match presentation, he was asked if he too had been given a title by CSK franchise and fans like MS Dhoni, who is lovingly called 'Thala', and Suresh Raina, the 'Chinna Thala'.

Though it has been suggested that Jadeja should be called 'Cricket Thalapathy'.

"My title hasn't yet been verified; hopefully they'll give me one," Jadeja said on a lighter note

But CSK didn't take time to respond to the request, as after a few minutes, a post popped on the CSK social media accounts which read: “Verified as Cricket Thalapathy.”

Regarding his bowling performance, Jadeja said: "I always enjoy my bowling on this track (Chennai). I was hoping the ball grips a little and if you bowl in the right areas, it helps you. For visiting teams, it takes time to settle in and plan."
