IPL 2024: Cricket fraternity lauds Jos Buttler’s unbeaten ton as it helps RR defeat RCB by 6 wickets  

Jos Buttler hit a century in his 100th IPL match.

The 19th match of the IPL 2024 saw Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Jaipur on April 6. With this win, RR went to the top of the IPL 17 points table with 4 wins from 4 games.

RR captain Sanju Samson won the toss and put RCB into bat first. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis added 125 runs for the first wicket. RCB captain made 44 in 33 balls before being dismissed, but Virat Kohli continued at one end on a sluggish pitch.

He finished with 113* in 72 balls with 12 fours and 4 sixes to his name as RCB posted 183/3 in 20 overs. This was his 8th IPL century and also the joint slowest in IPL history in 67 balls.

In response, Reece Topley got Yashasvi Jaiswal out for a duck, but then Sanju Samson (69) and Jos Buttler added 148 runs for the second wicket and put RR in commanding position. While RCB took a few quick wickets including Samson, Riyan Parag (4), and Dhruv Jurel (2), RR had Jos Buttler at the crease.

Buttler, playing his 100th IPL match, took RR to the win and hit a six when 1 run was needed to complete his century as well. He remained unbeaten on 100 in 58 balls with 4 fours and 9 sixes as RR won by 6 wickets and 5 balls to spare.

Buttler was named the Player of the Match for his brilliant century which triumphed over Virat Kohli's ton.

The cricket fraternity was all praises for Buttler’s brilliance with the bat as he took RR to their 4th straight win.
