Ex-KKR all-rounder David Wiese had termed Pandit's coaching style as 'militant'.
Earlier, ex-KKR all-rounder David Wiese had revealed that players felt frustrated with what he described as Pandit's 'militant' coaching style, particularly regarding directives on behavior and attire.
"He (Pandit) is known in India as a very militant type of coach. He is very strict, very disciplinarian, and that type of stuff. Sometimes in franchise cricket, when you have overseas guys, who've played all over the world, they don't need anyone coming and telling them how they need to behave, what they need to wear, and what they need to do the whole time. So, that was tough,” Wiese had said on the podcast 'Hitman for Hire: A Year in the Life of a Franchise Cricketer'.
And now the former KKR cricketer N Jagadeesan shared an interesting story during Star Sports Tamil commentary during the DC v KKR match.
He revealed how KKR coach Chandrakant Pandit once tore Varun Chakravarthy’s shirt sleeves as he mistakenly wore a full-sleeved shirt on while it was instructed to players to wear sleeveless attire.
“Last year in KKR camp Chandrakant Pandit said that day was sleeveless day and that day Varun (Chakravarty) wore full sleeves accidentally. Chandrakant Pandit called him aside and tore the shirt to sleeveless with scissors,” N Jagadeesan said during Tamil Commentary with Star Sports.
Despite KKR not making it into the IPL 2023 playoffs, Chandrakant Pandit continues to serve as the head coach of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing IPL 2024 season. KKR has won all three matches played thus far, securing the top position on the points table.
However, he has someone over him in the hierarchy as KKR hired their 2-time IPL-winning captain Gautam Gambhir as their mentor.
