Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant was a shining light for his side despite their humiliating loss to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 3 at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, in Visakhapatnam.

Shreyas Iyer, the DC captain, had won the toss and chose to bat first. Sunil Narine's 85, Angkrish Raghuvanshi's 54 in his first outing with the bat in IPL, and cameos from Andre Russell (41) and Rinku Singh (26) propelled KKR to 272/7 after 20 overs. This is the second-highest score in IPL history, after only SRH's 277 runs.

For Delhi Capitals, Anrich Nortje took three wickets, while Ishant Sharma claimed two.

In response, Tristan Stubbs (54) and Rishabh Pant (55) were the only DC hitters to stand up to KKR bowling, as DC was bowled out for 166 runs and lost by 106 runs. Vaibhav Arora and Varun Chakravarthy each took three wickets for KKR.

Rishabh Pant was particularly impressive as he slammed 4 fours and 5 sixes in his knock. It was his second back-to-back fifty in the IPL 2024. He also took Venkatesh Iyer for 28 runs in one over, hitting him for two sixes and 4 fours.

To be noted, Rishabh Pant made his comeback to competitive cricket in the ongoing IPL tournament after 14 months of intense rehab and recovery. He was out of cricket since December 2022 after meeting with a near-fatal car accident.

His valiant knock was appreciated by the cricket fraternity and they were ecstatic as the old Rishabh Pant was back. They shared their reactions on social media platform X.
