Ahead of their next IPL 2024 match against Delhi Capitals (DC), Mumbai Indians (MI) have received a positive news as world's top-ranked T20 batter Suryakumar Yadav has successfully cleared all fitness assessments at the National Cricket Academy.

Suryakumar is now close to his first IPL appearance for this season. In the last four months, he underwent several surgeries, including one for a grade 2 ankle tear and another for a sports hernia.

Suryakumar was last seen in action during the T20I series against South Africa in December 2023.

"Surya has cleared all but one routine tests which are mandatory to get RTP (Return To Play) certificate from the NCA. There is one more test left to be conducted on Thursday, after which a clearer picture would emerge," a senior BCCI source told PTI on the condition of anonymity.

"He is batting comfortably and has done all simulations," he added.

When asked about Suryakumar's availability for MI’s home fixture on April 7 against the Delhi Capitals, the source said: "The clearer picture will emerge after tomorrow's tests. There's still three days before the next game but since it's a comeback after a long time, it could also be April 11 at home against RCB."

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Mustafizur Rahman has travelled to Bangladesh to complete the visa process for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, slated to be held in West Indies and USA from June 1 to June 29.

As a result, the left-arm quick is likely to miss CSK’s next match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday (April 5).

“He has gone back home to complete visa formalities and will only be back after he gets his passport back. Tomorrow is the day when he applies for the visa,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan told news agency PTI.

Mustafizur Rahman is the leading wicket-taker in IPL 2024 so far with seven scalps to his name.
