Mayank Yadav returned with the incredible bowling figures of 3/14 in four overs against RCB.
Mayank's searing pace saw the back of Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green. He returned with the incredible bowling figures of 3/14 in four overs and earned his second Player-of-the-Match award in a row.
During the game, the 21-year-old consistently bowled at the speed exceeding 150 kmph. In his second over, he also clocked 156.7 kmph to register the fastest ball of the season.
After scripting LSG’s 28-run victory over RCB, Mayank Yadav reflected on his spell and said that Green’s wicket was special for him as he likes to knock over batters.
“Green's wicket was special because I personally like just like one kind of wicket, which is bowling people out, like any fast bowler. That over was a bit aggressive because I'd picked a wicket in the previous over. The captain also told me to attack a bit and use the bouncer with my pace,” said Yadav in a video released by IPL’s social media handle on ‘X’.
Mayank went on to say that former LSG head coach Andy Flower helped him a lot when he was under pressure in the last couple of years, while adding he only trains to get quicker and stronger.
“Andy has supported me a lot in the last two years. I was under a lot of pressure in the first year, so he calmed me down a bit by teaching me things. So, Andy has helped me a lot,” he stated.
“No extra training, I just do things that make me quicker and stronger. This was the first time I played on this ground. I'd heard that 180 is easily chasable on this ground but our plan was to keep bowling at the stumps and not give the batters any room,” Mayank added.
Mayank Yadav has picked up six wickets in two matches this season and sits at the second spot for the race of the Purple Cap.
Mayank and LSG will be next seen in action against the Gujarat Titans in Lucknow on April 7.
