Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) hosted Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 2 in the ongoing IPL 2024. RCB had much on line losing two out of their three matches, while LSG came into this game having lost one and won one game.
Faf du Plessis, RCB captain, won the toss and chose to bowl first. Quinton de Kock scored 81 (5 sixes, 8 fours, while Nicholas Pooran hammered 40* with 5 sixes and one four as LSG posted 181/5. For RCB, Glenn Maxwell took two wickets.
In response, LSG captain KL Rahul opened with two left-arm spinners, and M Siddharth was rewarded for his good bowling as he scalped Virat Kohli for 22 for his maiden IPL wicket. Faf du Plessis was run out for 19 runs. Glenn Maxwell was beaten for pace by Mayank Yadav as he fell for a two-ball duck.

Mayank Yadav, who impressed everyone with his pace on his IPL debut for LSG against Punjab, continued in the same vein and bowled lightning bolts at RCB batters. After Glenn Maxwell, it was the turn of Cameron Green to face the music.
Yadav clocked the fastest ball this season, bettering his own 155.8 kph v PBKS, with a pace of 156.7 kph in this match. This delivery was the first ball of his second over of his spell.
On the other hand, Cameron Green tried everything to negate Mayank’s pace, but Yadav clean-bowled him with a corker of a delivery.
The ball pitched on a length outside the off stump and moved just so little into the stump, but enough to beat the outside edge of Green’s bat and rattled into the stumps.
