DC coach Ponting meanwhile, back Rishabh Pant to finish the game and earn his team its 1st win.
While the former captain MS Dhoni has been brilliant behind the stumps and a guiding light for new captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, he is yet to bat for Chennai in the present Indian Premier League season, as fans eagerly await the moment when their beloved 'Thala' steps onto the pitch and wields his bat in Vizag.
Ahead of the encounter, Hussey has predicted Dhoni to seal the match with a stylish finish, backed by the electrifying support of the crowd.
"My prediction for the last over of the match is that MS Dhoni will be batting. The crowd will be roaring and MS d will hit a six to finish the match," Michael Hussey said in the video released by IPL's official social media page.
On the other hand, DC coach Ricky Ponting, foresees skipper Rishabh Pant taking charge to seal the match for his team.
"What would I like to see? I would like to see Rishabh Pant on strike in the last over, Delhi with 12 to win and Rishabh hitting a boundary off the last ball to win the game for Delhi. I mean, that'd be the story that a lot of people would like to see. That's the story that the DC fans would like to see. And I'm sure there's the opposite story for the CSK fans," Ponting said.
IPL 2024: “We're going to turn things around against CSK,” says DC head coach Ricky Ponting
CSK has won both of its games in IPL 2024 thus far, while DC is looking for its first win. Hussey emphasized the team's determination to deliver an impressive performance and extend their winning streak.
Ponting expressed the team's enthusiasm for the tough challenge that awaits them against CSK in the upcoming match.
"If you watched us train today, you would think that we'd won our first two games. It's a great challenge for us and one that I know that me and the coaching staff are excited about. But all the players are really excited about it as well.
You don't want to lose any games, let alone lose two in a row at the start of the tournament. So, we understand the importance of this game, obviously. CSK are a very good team. They've won their first couple of games. They won the championship last year, so I think for us right now, the bigger the challenge is probably the better for us," Ponting said.
