Riyan Parag was happy to contribute in RR's win over LSG in their IPL 17 opener.
Rajasthan Royals' all-rounder Riyan Parag showcased his value during their IPL 2024 match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Sunday, March 24. After being promoted to bat at No. 4, Parag played a quickfire knock of 43 runs off 29 balls during RR’s 20-run win over LSG.
Parag was also involved in a significant partnership of 93 runs with RR skipper Sanju Samson, who himself contributed 82* runs off 52 deliveries in the team’s thrilling win over the LSG.
Despite his on-field contributions, Parag has always struggled to get support from fans. In a video shared by the IPL on social media, the young all-rounder addressed this issue, acknowledging that it's tough for some people to back him due to his character.
Riyan Parag said in an IPL video: “It's tough to support someone like me. I am a different character, I do things a different way. I couldn't care less to be honest, if I think I am happy in my mind, if I think I've prepared well and giving myself the best shot to go out there and perform, I am happy.”
He added, “It's tough but they've (RR) stood by me ,and hopefully I can repay them. There are a lot of opinions about me, a lot of chat about me. But when I play domestic cricket, I don't listen to them.”
Parag signed off by saying, “It's true that you have a side ear to what everybody is saying but that's good and bad. You don't have to let that affect you. No matter who says what, If I don't truly believe in it, I don't think that really matters.”
