CSK defeated RCB by 6 wickets in the IPL 17 opening match in Chennai.
CSK had a new captain in Ruturaj Gaikwad and he started on a winning note. RCB skipper Faf du Plessis had won the toss and chose to bat first. Despite a poor start, when RCB were 78/5 at one stage, Anuj Rawat’s 48 and Dinesh Karthik’s 38* and their 66*-run partnership took the team to 173/6 in 20 overs.
In reply, everyone in the CSK team contributed with Rachin Ravindra (37), Shivam Dube (34*), Ajinkya Rahane (27), and Ravindra Jadeja (25*) being the main run-getters. CSK won the game by 6 wickets and continued their domination over RCB in Chepauk.
During the match, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni shared a heartwarming moment. A fan put out a video of both men where Kohli came over to greet Dhoni and put his shoulder over the CSK wicketkeeper. They were seen having a small chat as well.
