Rishabh Pant will return to cricket after 14 months in IPL 2024.
Australia’s Steve Smith expressed confidence in Rishabh Pant's ability to secure a spot in India’s squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on the back of his performance in the IPL 2024.
Pant is set to lead the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPL 2024 after being declared fit for the entire season following his remarkable recovery from a car accident that kept him sidelined for 14 months.
During a rapid-fire round with ESPNCricinfo, Smith, who will be doing commentary during the IPL 2024, expressed his excitement about Pant's return to action in the tournament.
The Australian cricketer said that Pant would be eager to make a significant impact for DC in the tournament, which will earn him a place in the Indian cricket team for the T20 World Cup 2024.

Steve Smith told ESPNCricinfo: “I'm excited to see Rishabh Pant back. Obviously, he has gone through a tough time lately. It's great to see him back on the field. He's going to want to make a big impact.”
Smith added, “So, we will see how it goes. I think Rishabh Pant might force his way back in. He is such a superstar. The way he plays is like no one else in that middle-order. He is aggressive, can keep wickets. So, I think Rishabh Pant.”
Notably, DC will kickstart its IPL 2024 campaign against the Punjab King (PBKS) on March 23.
