Chennai Super Kings (CSK) head coach Stephen Fleming highlighted the key role of captain MS Dhoni in the team's pre-season preparations leading up to the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024).

Fleming noted that Dhoni consistently arrives early for pre-season training sessions and dedicates time mentoring young Indian players in the CSK team. The head coach also said that the duration of the pre-season camp for CSK has extended over the past few years.

Stephen Fleming was quoted as saying by CSK: “Given the age of some of the players and the amount of cricket they're playing, our pre-season has extended over the last few years. So, MS takes a very strong role there and he needs some volume, so he goes in early and the players just gravitate towards that.”

Fleming further said that there are numerous advantages of the pre-season training sessions because the youngsters get to spend valuable time with the legendary cricketer.

The CSK coach added, “It enables young Indian players to reconnect, and then international players who've had commitments, they tend to come in a little bit later. The big benefits that our local Indian players get is, one, time to spend with MS Dhoni, and two, a chance to get back into the system.”

Notably, the IPL 2024 will start on March 22, with the MS Dhoni-led defending champions CSK clashing with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
