Mathulan, 17, went viral after video of his deadly yorker in a match between St. John’s College and Jaffna Central College left cricket fans stunned. The 17-year-old right-arm Jaffna pacer's dream delivery not only did that but also reportedly earned him an invitation to bowl in the CSK nets in IPL 2024.
Mathulan’s bowling action is very similar to that of Lankan legend Lasith Malinga. Like the Sri Lankan great, Mathulan too delivers with an unusual round-arm action that can put the batsmen off.

CSK already have a younger version of Malinga in Matheesha Pathirana in their ranks. But the pacer is suffering from a hamstring injury and doubtful starter for the initial part of the coming IPL season.
