Several English players have opted out days ahead of the IPL 2024 season.
The IPL 2024 season is slated to get underway on March 22 and several English players including Harry Brook, Mark Wood and Jason Roy have opted out of the tournament.
While Mark Wood will not feature in the IPL with the ECB looking to manage his workload ahead of the T20 World Cup and home summer, Harry Brook and Jason Roy have withdrawn their names citing personal reasons.
Gus Atkinson’s workload is also being monitored by ECB and he won’t be participating in the forthcoming IPL, while Devon Conway has pulled out after undergoing a surgery for a thumb injury that will keep him out for eight weeks.
Indian pacers Mohammad Shami and Prasidh Krishna won’t appear in the cash-rich league either due to injuries.
“Once players register for the auction, they should honour their commitment. Reneging on it is unprofessional, and the BCCI should address this,” a franchise official was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
Teams including Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants have been affected by players pulling out of the IPL 2024.
The IPL 2024 season is slated to get underway on March 22 with a face-off between defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chepauk.
