IPL auction is set to go global in December.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed Dubai as the venue for the player auction ahead of the IPL 2024 season. The auction will be held at the Coca-Cola arena in Dubai on December 19.
For the first time the IPL auction will be held outside India, though last year the board had planned to move the auction to Istanbul before eventually settling for Kochi.
In a brief communication to the 10 franchises on Friday (November 3) according to Cricbuzz, the BCCI also added that the deadline for the release of the list of retained players was extended to November 26, from November 15.
The franchises will operate under a salary cap of INR 100 crore. The 2024 season will also mark the third and final year of the three-year contract for each player, and a mega auction is scheduled before the 2025 edition of the lucrative league.
