MS Dhoni led CSK to their fifth title in IPL 2023.
Dhoni had played the entire IPL 2023 with a knee injury and right after winning the IPL 2023, he underwent knee surgery in Mumbai. Since then, has been spending time at home in Ranchi. He has been seen attending various functions in Chennai and other places.
The former India captain has also been seen rehabbing and training at the indoor facilities in JSCA Stadium.
With November 15 given as the deadline for teams to submit the list of retention players ahead of the mini-auction, Dhoni has yet again kept his fans guessing about his retirement.

During an event, MS Dhoni was asked about his plans for IPL 2024 and whether he would be seen leading the CSK team. MS Dhoni smiled while giving a reply and said: "I am trying my best. Everyone knows I had surgery on my left knee. The doctor said it will be as normal as possible by November, if everything goes right you will definitely see me playing in the IPL 2024."
