Ravindra Jadeja hit the winning runs in the IPL 2023 final to make CSK five-time champions.
GT had batted first after MS Dhoni won the toss and posted 214/4 in 20 overs as Sai Sudharsan top-scored with 96 in 47 balls and Wriddhiman Saha made a fifty as well.
In a rain-curtailed game in Ahmedabad, CSK chased down a revised 171-run target inside a maximum of 15 overs, with Ravindra Jadeja hitting the winning runs on the final ball of the game. The left-handed batter hit a six and a four with 10 runs required off the last two deliveries in the match.
After equaling Mumbai Indians in most IPL title wins - 5, the CSK players celebrated in style.
In a video shared on CSK social media, the players also recreated a viral Instagram reel with the IPL trophy.
It remains to be seen whether Mahendra Singh Dhoni – the CSK skipper – would return to lead CSK once again next year or not, as the entire IPL and even the final was all about Dhoni-mania. He has not ruled out coming back to lead the Yellow Army, but it depends on his fitness and injuries.
