Mohit Sharma was hit for a six and a four by Jadeja when 10 runs were needed on final 2 balls.
Given the role of bowling in the death overs, Mohit Sharma did his part perfectly, picking 27 wickets in 14 matches for the GT franchise.
Even in the IPL 2023 final against CSK, Mohit Sharma was handed the responsibility of bowling in the death as CSK chased 171 runs in 15 overs. They had gotten a good start by openers Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Then Ajinkya Rahane, and Ambati Rayudu kept the accelerator on in middle overs as Shivam Dube tried to find his rhythm. That’s when Mohit came and dismissed both of them in two overs along with MS Dhoni for a golden duck.
He had to defend 13 runs against Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube and bowled four brilliant yorkers conceding three runs. But Jadeja hammered him for a six and a four on the last two balls to take CSK to their fifth IPL title and made them IPL 2023 champions.
While Jadeja and co. celebrated, Mohit Sharma was desolate and his eyes welled up. GT captain Hardik Pandya immediately gave him a huge hug with consoling words, while Vijay Shankar also patted his head.

Not only he got consolation from his teammates, when the two sides were shaking hands, MS Dhoni, his former CSK captain, also patted him on the head for encouragement.
