CSK defeated GT by 5 wickets via DLS method to win the IPL 2023 final.
The IPL 2023 came to a thrilling end on the reserve day as the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the final in Ahmedabad by 5 wickets via DLS method to pocket their fifth IPL title overall.
Chasing 171 runs in 15 overs, Devon Conway led the charge with 47 runs, while cameos from Ruturaj Gaikwad (26), Ajinkya Rahane (27 in 13 balls), and Ambati Rayudu (19 off 8 balls) kept them in the game. Shivam Dube with 32* and Ravindra Jadeja hit a six and a four off the last two balls of the 15th over when 10 runs were needed to win the final and the title for Chennai Super Kings.
Earlier, thanks to a half-century from Wriddhiman Saha and a knock of 96 runs from Sai Sudharsan, Gujarat had posted 214/4, the highest total in the IPL final.
Former England captain and IPL commentator Kevin Pietersen took to Instagram and shared a video of the final moments from the commentary box.

As Ravindra Jadeja struck the final ball for a four to lead CSK to victory, viewers were glued to their televisions as Ian Bishop announced Chennai's triumph against the defending champions in his trademark fashion.
Ian Bishop announced the team as the IPL 2023 champions, shouting, "Never bet against MS Dhoni and CSK!" to the top of his lungs.
Ravi Shastri on the other hand called it an “unbelievable” moment as Ravindra Jadeja knocked off 10 runs in the last two balls of the final over.
Kevin Pietersen shared the video on Instagram while congratulating CSK on their title win.
He wrote: “The call of the finals moments of the IPL with two absolute legends in the comm box was a real privilege! What a game and what a finish! I mean…WOW! Congrats CSK & thank you to every single person that was involved in a record breaking season on all fronts! Players, spectators, and all the IPL staff can all give themselves a massive 3 cheers for producing 8 marvelous weeks!”
