RCB lost to Gujarat Titans in their last league match to be knocked out of the playoffs race.
It was a must-win game for RCB to reach the playoffs but they failed to perform as a unit and got knocked out of the tournament.
RCB’s star batter Kohli, who slammed a brilliant hundred in the game, was understandably disappointed to see his dream of lifting the IPL trophy remaining unfulfilled again.
Two days after RCB’s ouster from the cash-rich tournament, Kohli took to Instagram and penned a heartfelt post for his and the franchise’s supporters.
"A season which had it's moments but unfortunately we fell short of the goal. Disappointed but we must hold our heads high. To our loyal supporters, grateful for backing us every step of the way. A big thank you to the coaches, management and my teammates. We aim to be back stronger," he wrote.
Virat Kohli impressed one and all with his exploits in the 16th edition of IPL. In 14 matches, he amassed 639 runs at an average of 53.25 and a strike rate of 139.82. He smashed two hundreds and six half-centuries this season.
Kohli will be next seen in action during the World Test Championship final against Australia next month.
