Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan made a surprising revelation about skipper MS Dhoni’s future in the Indian Premier League after the team played its last home game in Chennai against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the league stage of the ongoing IPL 2023.

The match provided an unwanted result for the home side as after winning the toss and batting first, CSK managed on 144/6 with Shivam Dube (48*) and Devon Conway (30) being the top scorers. For KKR, Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy picked two wickets each.

In reply, Deepak Chahar picked 3 quick wickets to rattle the top order of KKR, but half-centuries from captain Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh took KKR home by 6 wickets.

MS Dhoni did a special lap of honour to thank all fans for their continuous support. The act from the CSK skipper also started to make many wonder if this is a way for Dhoni to say goodbye to his home fans.

IPL 2023: “I think dew made a big difference,” says MS Dhoni after CSK’s six-wicket loss to KKR

However, as far as CSK's CEO Kasi Viswanathan is concerned, the belief is that Dhoni is going to play beyond this season.

"We believe MS Dhoni is going to play next season as well so I hope fans will continue to support us like every time (translation from Tamil)," CSK CEO Kasi Kasi Viswanathan said in a video posted by CSK.

The 41-year-old has batted at the No. 8 spot this season, playing only a handful of deliveries, looking to dispatch most of them out of the park. This is because he is playing with a few niggles, especially his knee.

On the brink of playoffs qualification, CSK still need a win to be sure of their spot in IPL 2023 knockouts. They next take on Delhi Capitals in their last league game of the season.
