Chahal surpassed Bravo's tally to become the highest wicket-taker in IPL history.
Chahal accomplished this feat during RR’s clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the iconic Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
During the 11th over of KKR’s innings, the leg-spinner dismissed Nitish Rana to become the most wicket-taker in IPL history.
Yuzvendra Chahal now has 187 wickets to his name in the cash-rich tournament from 143 games. Bravo is second on the list with 183 scalps, followed by Piyush Chawla (176), Amit Mishra (173) and R Ashwin (171).
After achieving the milestone, Chahal received a congratulatory message from none other than Dwayne Bravo himself.
In a video posted by Chennai Super Kings on Twitter, Bravo sang his iconic song “Champion” for Chahal.
“Yuzi! Champion! Everybody knows Yuzi is a champion. Hey bro, this is the champion, DJ Bravo. I want to take this time to say congratulations on being the highest wicket-taker in IPL history. You deserve it. One of the best to play the game and you are now number one. So, congratulations. All the best from the champion. Well-deserved,” Bravo, who is CSK’s bowling coach, said in his message to Chahal.
Chahal responded to the video and thanked Bravo for his words, as he wrote, “Thank you so much champion” with pink and yellow heart emojis.
Yuzvendra Chahal will be next seen in action during Rajasthan Royals’ match against Royal Challengers Bangalore Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur on Sunday (May 14).
