Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Nehal Wadhera was the anchor in his team’s amazing IPL 2023 win over the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) while Suryakumar Yadav played the aggressor as MI chased down the 200-run target in 16.3 overs on May 9.

Wadhera was asked about his innings of 52* off 34 balls and how he has been reaching milestone figures since the match against Chennai Super Kings. The young left-hander spoke in the presentation ceremony and said that batting higher up the order was helping him express more.

"It was fun batting up in the order. Earlier I was batting down the order. I got an opportunity to bat and scored back-to-back fifties, I am happy with that. But happier with the team's performance and the result of the match. We have played a couple of games here at Wankhede and chased comfortably these 200 totals. Again we did it. I had the confidence in me to do the job for my team and I am really happy with the way I finished the game," Wadhera said.

Thanks to half-centuries from RCB captain Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell, the visiting team posted a total of 199 for 6 in 20 overs. Jason Behrendorff took three wickets for the Mumbai team.

In reply, Ishan Kishan give a brisk start to the MI innings while Rohit Sharma failed once again.

Then Surya Kumar Yadav took over and recorded his highest IPL score of 83 runs in just 35 balls and then Nehal Wadhera made an unbeaten 50 to take MI home and won the match by 6 wickets.

Wadhera said that batting with Surya was a lot of fun but he had not been able to copy his shots.

"Yeah, batting with Surya bhai is so much fun. I tried to copy some of his shots but cannot replicate them because those are very difficult to execute. Surya bhai is a great partner to bat with. He just said to me that if we both keep going we can pull this off way too early. I tried to play the scoop in my previous game against Chennai Super Kings. These are the ones that I am not used to playing earlier in my career. I have learnt these from Surya bhai," Wadhera concluded his interaction after the game.
