Suryakumar smashed 83 off 35 balls as MI chased down the target of 200 in 16.3 overs.
The dashing right-hander put on a batting exhibition in Mumbai Indians’ (MI) comprehensive six-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Wankhede Stadium.
Batting at No. 3, Surya slammed 83 off 35 balls as MI overhauled the massive target of 200 with 21 deliveries to spare. His knock was laced with 7 fours and 6 sixes and he deservingly won the Player-of-the-Match award.
With his dazzling innings, Suryakumar Yadav impressed one and all, including the Indian batting legends Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar.
Although Kohli’s IPL team was at the receiving end of Suryakumar’s carnage, the RCB star still congratulated the MI batter and patted him on his back when he was walking back to the pavilion after being dismissed in the 16th over of the chase.
When he was about to reach the MI dugout, Tendulkar stood up and clapped for Surya before tapping him on the back in appreciation.
With this victory, Mumbai Indians moved to the third spot in the 10-team standings, carrying 12 points from 11 matches.
The Rohit Sharma-led side will next face defending champions Gujarat Titans on Friday (May 12) at the Wankhede Stadium.
