Former India spinner Murali Kartik had a valid point to share during the recent IPL 2023 match between the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR) which was played in Jaipur.

The IPL 2023 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals on Sunday was a thriller to the core. With SRH needing five runs in one ball to overhaul a 215-run target, RR pacer Sandeep Sharma bowled a no-ball with Abdul Samad on strike. Then on the last legal delivery, Samad hit a six to take SRH over the line.

A day after the match, Kartik shared an image of Sandeep Sharma's last ball in which his front foot is over the bowling crease, however, in the same frame better Marco Jansen is also seen living his crease very early.

Murali Kartik pointed out the issue and on Twitter shared his thoughts on this habit of batters leaving the crease at the bowling end early.

He Tweeted: “Yes the bowler is not supposed to transgress the line &gets penalised... But what about non-strikers who constantly wander off whether under pressure or otherwise.. something has to be a deterrent, penalty runs, dot ball something otherwise this will continue....unfair..#mytwocents."

And to those who are suggesting run the batter out..yes thats what should be done but a few issues..a fast bowler to back out of his run out at the point of gather takes a lot out of them, thats why they dont like when batters move away when they are about to deliver&Secondly” he added.

depending upon the format imagine the amount of stoppage and how tacky it will look if the bowler keeps stopping most balls to take the bails out....that's why PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE,” Kartik concluded.

In the latest ICC law, a non-striker, who is backing up too far, can be run out by the bowler.

Meanwhile, in the match, thanks to aggressive fifties by Jos Buttler (95) and Sanju Samson (66), Rajasthan Royals posted a challenging 214 for two after winning the toss and electing to bat.

In reply, Abhishek Sharma (55), Rahul Tripathi (47) kept them in the hunt before Yuzvendra Chahal (4/29) almost took RR near victory. But then, Glenn Phillips (25) reignited the chase as Abdul Samad's (17 not out off 7 balls) finished the match.
